Lead actor of The Batman confirms comeback for upcoming sequel.

Jeffrey Wright has confirmed he will reprise his role as Gotham City police officer James Gordon in the upcoming sequel to The Batman.

In an interview with Den of Geek, the 59-year-old actor revealed he hasn’t read the script yet but has “heard” some details about the project.

“I’m liking what I’m hearing, and I have huge respect for Matt’s Gotham-building skills,” Wright said. “I’m excited to dive in and see what he’s created — I’m sure it will be rich and satisfying both to play and for audiences to experience.”

The Batman Part II is set for release on October 1, 2027. Robert Pattinson will also return as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Warner Bros. Discovery recently announced that filming for the sequel will begin in spring 2026.

The first film, released in March 2022, grossed $772 million worldwide, cementing its place as one of the year’s biggest box office successes.
