Iran Says US Seeking “Face-Saving” Exit Amid Ongoing Conflict

Iran has claimed that the United States is looking for a “face-saving” way to withdraw from the ongoing conflict. The statement was issued by Iran’s defence ministry on Saturday.

A spokesperson, quoted by Iranian media outlet ISNA, said Iran’s military strength has become a dominant force. He added that the US is now trapped in a difficult situation.

According to Iran, the United States is trying to find a way out of what it called a “war quagmire.” The remarks come at a time of continued regional tension.

At the same time, US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are traveling to Islamabad. Reports suggest that peace-related discussions are expected in Pakistan.

However, Iranian state media has clarified that direct negotiations are not currently planned. Officials in Iran have not confirmed any direct talks with US representatives.

In a separate statement, Iran’s military warned the United States over its actions in the region. It said it would respond if the US continues what it described as a blockade of Iranian ports.

The military called such actions “banditry” and “piracy.” It warned that continued pressure would lead to retaliation.

Iran’s central military command, Khatam Al-Anbiya, issued the warning through state media IRIB. It said Iranian forces are fully prepared to respond.

The statement from Iran added that the armed forces are closely monitoring enemy movements. It emphasized readiness and determination in case of escalation.

Meanwhile, international developments continue around the Strait of Hormuz. Germany announced plans to send a minesweeper to the Mediterranean for a possible mission.

The deployment is linked to a potential neutral mission in the region after the conflict ends. However, it would require approval from Germany’s parliament.

The war involving Iran began on February 28 following air strikes by the United States and Israel. The conflict has affected regional stability and energy routes.

In response, Iran reportedly disrupted movement in the Strait of Hormuz. The strait is a key global oil shipping route.

Discussions about possible negotiations are ongoing in Pakistan. Both sides have sent envoys, but no direct agreement has been confirmed.
