Instagram said in a tweet:
Earlier tonight, a technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing Instagram. We resolved this issue for everyone as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience. #instagramdown

During the peak of the disruption, there were over 53,000 instances of Instagram being inaccessible, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages. The website collects status information from many sources, including issues reported by platform users.
According to the outage-tracking website, reports of Instagram outages in the United States have reduced to around 1,000 while the app was being restored. The website also stated that problems have been reduced to less than 100 reports in the United Kingdom, India, Japan, and Australia.
The disruption does not appear to have had as severe an impact in Pakistan, since there were only a few hundred reports in the last few hours. At roughly 7:53 a.m. PKT today, the overall number of outage reports peaked at 70.
At the time of writing, all of Instagram’s services appear to be operational. Please let us know in the comments if Instagram is still causing you trouble.
