[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Monday, the Islamabad court will hear the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) request to initiate criminal proceedings against PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana (gift depository) reference (today).
Sessions and District the PTI leader has been called before Judge Zafar Iqbal in his individual capacity.
The court had acknowledged the petition from the commission as being maintainable on December 15.
The court stated in its three-page decision that the PTI chief’s asset disclosure to the ECP was false on its face.
The former premier had also not disclosed the specifics of the gifts he had received from the Toshakhana, it was claimed.
The court also noted that Imran had omitted to reveal the cash he had made from selling these items.
In his ruling, the judge stated that the PTI leader was clearly guilty of breaking Section 174 of the Election Act.
The court noted that the affidavits of the ECP officer in charge of finance and the district election commissioner for Islamabad had been recorded.
It added that the details of Imran’s statements for four years — 2017 to 2021 — had also been submitted before the court.
The ECP had sent the reference to the district and sessions judge under Sections 137, 170, 167 of the Election Act.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
