Efforts have been made to digitize the process, with the Interior Ministry being the primary authority responsible for issuing and regulating arms licenses. Collaborating with NADRA and regional interior departments under a unified system has streamlined the issuance process.
Although NADRA itself isn’t the license-issuing authority, it facilitates the government in issuing new arms licenses, simplifying the renewal of existing licenses or obtaining new ones. The Computerized Arms License System (CALS), however, has been criticized for its complexity and prolonged processing times.
