How To Apply For Arms License In Pakistan?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]In Pakistan, the government administers arms licenses through the Arms Ordinance 1965. Efforts have been made to digitize the process, with the Interior Ministry being the primary authority responsible for issuing and regulating arms licenses. Collaborating with NADRA and regional interior departments under a unified system has streamlined the issuance process.

Although NADRA itself isn’t the license-issuing authority, it facilitates the government in issuing new arms licenses, simplifying the renewal of existing licenses or obtaining new ones. The Computerized Arms License System (CALS), however, has been criticized for its complexity and prolonged processing times.

For those in Punjab, the application form for an arms license is obtainable from the local district coordination officer or can be downloaded from a provided link. The application process involves filling out the form, attaching a copy of a valid CNIC, obtaining verifications from local Police Station, DSP, and SP, appearing before the Deputy Commissioner, and paying a fee of Rs2000 in the form of attached tickets.

Eligibility for an arms license is extended to all citizens without a criminal record or mental health issues. The application process requires submitting the form, obtaining a decision from the Deputy Commissioner, and purchasing the arm from an authorized dealer. The license is annually renewable with a fee.

Applicants can apply for an arms license online, and the necessary requirements include the weapon license application form, a copy of the ID/CNIC card, two passport-size photographs, and additional documents such as the NTN certificate and a certificate of profession/services for taxpayers.
