HDA Revokes Approvals For 18 Housing Projects

The Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) has decided to suspend the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) that were previously issued to 18 housing schemes in Hyderabad.

Nadeem Yousuf, a spokesperson for the authority, explained that this action was taken due to a delay in the payment of external development charges (EDC). Yousuf stated, “The builders demonstrated a lack of interest and commitment despite receiving multiple notices.”

Other schemes in Hyderabad talukas, such as Hamza Garden, New Shahab Town, Vohra Town, Sadiq Residency, and Indus Heaven, are also impacted.

Yousuf mentioned that Apple Residency, Icon City, and The Homes housing schemes have been given a one-week deadline to settle their outstanding dues and prevent the suspension of their NOCs.

External development charges are fees paid to the authority for services like water supply, drainage, and road infrastructure in these housing schemes. However, builders have expressed grievances that despite making these payments, the promised development work remains incomplete. Many housing schemes along the Hyderabad Bypass, which have already received approval and development, lack essential water and drainage connections even after residents have moved in.

In a separate development, the Sindh Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has instructed the builders, developers, and sponsors of six housing schemes in the Jamshoro district to halt their construction work.
