[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]As part of its energy-saving mission to save the economy, the government has officially prohibited the use of old, high-energy-consuming bulbs and other lights.
This move has the potential to save approximately 1,800MW of electricity. In this regard, the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) has issued a formal notification.
According to NEECA, Pakistan currently produces approximately 2.1 million 100W light bulbs per year. Authorities will save Rs. 24 billion per year with the aforementioned policy on old and inefficient lights, while new lights that use up to 12W of electricity will be normalised.
Meanwhile, the Authority stated that the government will prohibit the manufacture and sale of traditional fans beginning July 1st, 2023. In addition, the government plans to replace the old fans with new energy-efficient models, potentially saving 7,500MW of electricity.
