The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has introduced conical baffle charges in monthly gas bills as part of its geyser campaign ahead of winter.
Reports indicate that the company is charging an additional Rs2,085 for conical baffles, used in geysers, which has upset millions of consumers, many of whom don’t have geysers at home.
Consumers received bills with extra charges regardless of whether they have geysers installed.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) clarified that the installation of conical baffles was authorized to enhance safety and lower gas bills. OGRA urged those facing unjust charges to file complaints.
SSGC stated that surveys were conducted for conical baffle installation, and charges were approved by OGRA. Customers can contact their nearest Customer Facilitation Center (CFC) for complaints regarding conical baffles.
