The first goal materialized in the 11th minute when Tom Grambusch successfully converted a penalty corner, providing Germany with an early lead in the opening quarter. The momentum continued in the second quarter, as Niklas Wellen extended the lead with a field goal in the 17th minute. The score remained 2-0 in favor of Germany at the conclusion of the first half.

As the match progressed into the third quarter, Germany maintained their dominance. Niklas Wellen once again found the back of the net with a successful penalty corner in the 40th minute, further solidifying Germany’s lead. Justus Weigand contributed to the tally with a field goal in the 39th minute, concluding the third quarter with a commanding 4-0 lead. No goals were scored in the fourth quarter.

It is worth noting that Pakistan had secured a crucial point by playing to a 3-3 draw against Malaysia, which proved sufficient to advance to the semi-finals. Their first victory in the competition came with a 2-0 win against China. However, Pakistan faced a setback in their initial match against Great Britain, succumbing to a 6-1 defeat, with Abdul Hanan Shahid scoring the solitary goal. The team’s performance in pool matches placed them second in Pool A, trailing behind Great Britain, who accumulated nine points.

In addition to Germany, New Zealand also qualified for the semi-finals from Group B. Despite the semi-final loss, Pakistan still has a chance to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics through the third-place play-off.
