A sessions court in Islamabad has ordered the detention of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry on judicial remand in connection with an alleged fraud case.
According to his wife, Fawad, a former federal minister who just left the PTI over the May 9 incident, was arrested at his apartment in Islamabad.
Fawad Chaudhry, a former PTI leader, was brought before Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mehmood’s court after serving his one-day physical remand in connection with a financial fraud case.
During today’s session, the police sought that Fawad’s physical remand be extended for more investigation, but the judge denied the request.

As a result, the court has ordered that he be held in jail on judicial remand.

According to the FIR, Zaheer Ahmed allegedly paid over Rs. 50 million to Fawad Chaudhry. When he requested the money back, Fawad allegedly offered him two government jobs in exchange. Furthermore, Fawad Chaudhry and his two armed guards allegedly threatened him.
