Elon Musk has unveiled X Chat, a major upgrade to the X platform, bringing secure messaging, audio/video calls, and file transfer in one place. The feature is currently rolling out to a limited number of beta users and aims to replace the platform’s existing direct messaging system.

One of the standout features of X Chat is end-to-end encryption for all messages. Previously, only paid subscribers had access to encrypted conversations, but X Chat ensures that every chat is protected by default. Musk has compared its encryption to apps like Signal and WhatsApp, highlighting the platform’s commitment to user privacy.

To access X Chat, users must set up a four-digit PIN. This PIN is required each time the chat interface is opened, adding an extra layer of security. While some users have expressed minor frustration at this additional step, it ensures that even previously unencrypted messages remain private.

X Chat also includes file sharing, audio/video calls, and disappearing messages, making it a full-featured communication tool within X. The rollout of X Chat is part of a larger expansion by the platform into new digital services. Recently, Musk introduced features like Grokipedia, a new alternative to Wikipedia, highlighting his broader vision for X as a hub for information, communication, and innovation. With X Chat, Elon Musk is positioning the platform not just as a social media network, but as a secure and versatile communications ecosystem. Users now have a single interface for chatting, calling, and sharing files, all under robust encryption.

The new feature reflects Musk’s ongoing focus on privacy, innovation, and user experience, offering X users a modern messaging solution that rivals other leading apps.
