Eidul Adha 2024 in Pakistan: June 17

The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee of Pakistan, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, has confirmed that the Zil Hajj moon has been sighted, indicating that Eidul Azha will be celebrated on June 17, 2024 (Monday). The announcement came following a committee meeting held at the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s main offices in Karachi.

As a result, the first day of Zil Hajj in Pakistan will be on June 8, 2024. This aligns with earlier predictions by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, which had anticipated the likelihood of moon sighting on June 7 and forecasted Eidul Adha for June 17.

In a related development, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced that June 7 will be the first day of Zil Hajj in Saudi Arabia, following the sighting of the crescent moon on Thursday evening. Consequently, the Hajj pilgrimage season begins on June 7, with Eidul Adha in Saudi Arabia falling on June 16, 2024 (Sunday). Arafat Day, observed on the ninth day of Zil Hajj, will be on June 15, 2024 (Saturday).

These announcements set the stage for one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar, with millions of Muslims around the world preparing for the Hajj pilgrimage and the celebration of Eidul Adha, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
