Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum, formerly the Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat University and Allama Iqbal Open University, is celebrated for his proficiency in education and administration.
The appointment process involved a thorough evaluation by a search committee, which considered 18 candidates. Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum emerged as the top candidate, securing 72 points and garnering widespread recognition as the most qualified individual for the position of Executive Director.

The search committee, comprising the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Acting ED, Secretary of Science and Technology, Federal Education Secretary, and a prominent education expert, conducted a meticulous review before recommending Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum for the position. The HEC Board, after careful consideration of the candidates, formally approved his appointment.
