A ‘Mentally Ill’ Person has Become Threat to National Security: DG ISPR Slams Imran Khan

DG ISPR Lt. General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry warned that nothing is above the state of Pakistan as he criticized the growing ambitions of a “single individual” whose message appears to be, “If not me, then nothing.”

During a press conference with senior journalists, he congratulated officials on the appointment of the Chief of Defence Forces and confirmed that the new CDF Headquarters is now operational—something he said had long been required.

Lt. Gen. Chaudhry explained that the purpose of the briefing was to address an emerging internal national security threat. He said the narrative promoted by a particular political leader has shifted into a dangerous space and is now harming Pakistan’s national security.

He stressed that the armed forces do not belong to any region, sect, or political ideology. “Our military represents every language, religion, and community. Our only agenda is Pakistan,” he noted.

He added that most soldiers come from middle- and lower-middle-class families, and attacks on the institution or its leadership will not be accepted. The military, he said, respects all political parties and personalities but urged them to keep the army out of political disputes. “We will not allow a wedge between the people and the army,” he emphasized.

Referring indirectly to PTI founder Imran Khan, he said a “mentally ill” individual is spreading an anti-state narrative that the institution will not tolerate
