Australian cricketer David Warner has called on Cricket Australia (CA) to clarify the circumstances of a controversial ball change during the final day of the Australia A vs. India A match in Mackay, which has led to allegations of ball-tampering by the Indian team.
Tensions rose when the umpires replaced the ball before play resumed, frustrating the Indian players, particularly wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. Umpire Shawn Craig informed Kishan that the ball had scratches and warned him against disputing the decision, caught on the stump mic saying, “You scratch it, we change the ball.”
CA later issued a statement saying the ball had “deteriorated” and confirmed no further action. Warner, however, expressed concern that the issue had been “squashed” due to India’s upcoming tour for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and suggested that CA or the match referee should address the matter if the umpire’s decision is to be upheld.
