[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Maryam Nawaz, senior vice president and chief organiser of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was called before the Sukkur district and sessions court on Wednesday as part of a contempt case brought against her for making “scandalous remarks” about Supreme Court judges.
Further Sessions Maryam Nawaz was ordered by Judge Mumtaz Solangi to show up in court on March 10. Also, he called the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) officers and the senior superintendent of police for Sukkur.

The senior PML-N leader was accused of defaming the institutions in her presentation to the party workers in Sargodha last week, according to a petition submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sukkur District President Zaheer Babar.
The PML-N chief organiser had raised concerns about some of the judges on the nine-member bench of the top court that was formed to hear the suo motu notice questioning the delay in the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa elections while speaking to a PML-N workers’ convention.
In the Lahore High Court, a similar suit against Maryam Nawaz is also pending (LHC). LHC Judge Shujaat Ali Khan noted during the hearing of the petition against Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday that several additional petitions of a similar character had been filed with the courts and that he was grouping them all for consideration on March 6.
Justice Khan had additionally requested information from the petitioner’s attorney regarding whether or not a matter involving insults directed at Supreme Court judges may be heard in the high court.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
