Maryam criticises senior SC judges for conspiring against Nawaz in a furious speech in Sargodha.

In a fiery speech on Thursday, PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz attacked a “cabal of five,” which she claimed was “conspiring” against PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and included past and current members of the judiciary.  Our ears are sick of hearing “there was a plot, there was a conspiracy,” Maryam stated while addressing a workers’ convention in Sargodha. Maryam is presently on a reorganisation tour to help frame her party’s narrative.

She made a joke about watches and targeted PTI leader Imran Khan, who has admitted to selling a watch he bought from the state treasury while serving as prime minister. Maryam yelled, “Today, I will inform the public that the true conspiracy against Nawaz Sharif occurred. A television screen displayed a composite image of the five people the PML-N leader held accountable as she signalled, adding: “The people of Sargodha should also see the ones behind the scheme.”

Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, a former director of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), former chief justices Asif Khosa and Saqib Nisar, and two sitting Supreme Court justices were all shown in the photos. They are all members of the top court bench that is currently deliberating a suo motu case regarding who has the constitutional duty and authority to announce the date for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

One of the judges has been urged to “voluntarily recuse to remain” by the Pakistan Bar Council. It is important to note that over the past week, audio tapes have also appeared on social media in which Parvez Elahi, the former chief minister of Punjab who is now a member of the PTI, is allegedly heard ordering cases to be scheduled before one of the two judges Maryam mentioned.

What is displayed on the screen? Can you make out the Five-Man Cabal? She claimed that ex-ISI commander Hameed, who had “appointed himself the chief of army staff,” was their leader and that they were to blame for Pakistan’s crisis. “Because he required pawns in order to become [the] chief. He required a political persona. So why did he pick that person when Nawaz Sharif could never be that pawn? The watch thief is Imran Khan.
