According to the SHO of Napier, the couple had originally hailed from Bajaur Agency and had married two years ago despite family opposition. After their marriage, they had moved from Lahore to Karachi, where they initially stayed at a private hotel in Lyari before renting a house near Meva Shah Mosque in Napier.

On the day of the incident, the couple had arrived by rickshaw from a shopping mall near Clifton Sea View. As they reached Lyari, they were shot by assailants on a motorcycle.

Atallah’s cousin informed the police that the couple had been exiled by local elders through a jirga (tribal council) for their love marriage.

A case has been registered against the unknown assailants based on the statement from Atallah’s cousin, Asfandyar. The victims’ bodies have been handed over to the family after completing legal formalities, and further investigations are underway.
