Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi arrived in Lahore on Thursday to begin a three-day visit, placing the provincial capital at the center of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) political activity. The KP CM Lahore visit, running from December 26 to 28, is focused on party coordination, public outreach, and consultations with senior leaders amid a charged political climate.
According to party and official sources, Afridi will stay in Johar Town, where he is scheduled to meet key PTI figures including Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Hammad Azhar. He is also likely to visit Zaman Park and attend gatherings in Liberty Market and other key public locations across the city, signaling an effort to reconnect with supporters at the grassroots level.
The chief minister’s itinerary includes meetings with PTI lawmakers and ticket holders, along with a press conference at the Punjab Assembly, where he is expected to address recent political developments and outline the party’s future strategy. His Lahore engagements are being closely watched as PTI seeks to consolidate its position across provinces.
Authorities have implemented strict security measures during the KP CM’s stay. Special police units, traffic control plans, and intelligence coordination have been activated to ensure smooth movement and public safety throughout the visit.
Afridi is also expected to visit Kot Lakhpat Jail to meet detained PTI leaders, a move that party insiders say reflects continued concern over political detentions and legal challenges facing party members.
Beyond politics, the visit highlights KP’s governance narrative. Under the provincial government, over 300,000 residents have received medical treatment through the Sehat Card Plus program, which continues to be promoted as a major welfare initiative improving healthcare access across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Political analysts say the KP CM Lahore visit is aimed at reinforcing party unity, energizing supporters, and aligning provincial leadership ahead of critical political milestones. Afridi is expected to return to Peshawar after concluding his engagements on December 28.
