Recognizing Max’s role as a cherished companion rather than his skills in mousing or napping, Vermont State University’s Castleton campus bestowed this honor upon him. Max, a treasured tabby, resides with a family near the university entrance and has become a familiar presence on campus over the past four years.

Described as a social butterfly, Max brings joy to students who often photograph him and include him in campus tours. Despite not understanding how Max navigates his way around, his owner, Ashley Dow, attests to his fondness for spending time with college students.
Former students, upon returning to campus, make it a point to catch up with Dow, affectionately referred to as Max’s mom, to inquire about their feline friend.
While Max will not be attending the graduation ceremony, his honorary degree will be presented to Dow by the university.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
