Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are celebrating more than just their marriage this weekend, as both of their films are dominating the box office. Reynolds’ Marvel hit, Deadpool & Wolverine, secured the top spot with a $54 million domestic opening, while Lively’s adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us followed closely with $50 million.

This accomplishment makes Lively and Reynolds the first married couple since Bruce Willis and Demi Moore in 1990 to hold the first and second positions at the box office with their respective films.

Since its July 26 release, Deadpool & Wolverine has amassed $494.3 million in U.S. theaters, marking it as one of the most successful films of the post-pandemic era.

Meanwhile, It Ends With Us, a mid-budget film addressing the serious topic of domestic violence, has exceeded expectations with its impressive $50 million debut. Lively, who also served as a producer on the film, has faced some controversy during the promotional tour, with fans noting awkward moments and possible tension on set with director Justin Baldoni.

Lively and Reynolds have come a long way since their 2011 box office disappointment Green Lantern. In 2024, they both appeared in the children’s movie IF, and Lively even made a cameo in Deadpool as Ladypool, the female counterpart to Reynolds’ character.

This weekend’s success further solidifies their status as one of Hollywood’s most powerful couples.
