The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that it will remain closed on Wednesday, 25 December 2025, in observance of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas. The central bank confirmed the closure in an official tweet, stating that the holiday has been declared by the Government of Pakistan.
In line with the SBP, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will also remain closed on the same day, following its official calendar of public holidays. Both institutions will resume operations following the holiday.
The closure marks a dual celebration: Quaid-e-Azam Day, which honors the birth anniversary of Pakistan’s founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and Christmas, observed by Christians across the country. The announcement serves as a reminder for financial institutions, investors, and the general public to plan their banking and trading activities accordingly, ensuring that transactions are managed ahead of the holiday.
This synchronized closure of the central bank and the stock exchange is a standard practice during nationally recognized public holidays, reflecting respect for both cultural and historical observances in Pakistan. Customers and market participants are advised to adjust their schedules to accommodate the holiday closure and avoid any inconvenience.
