Banks will be closed for three days because the government-announced Ashura vacations fall on Sunday.

“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed from the 28th to the 29th of July, 2023 (Friday to Saturday) due to public holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th and 10th Moharram 1445 A.H),” the national bank announced earlier today.

The federal government formally declared Ashura (9th and 10th Muharram) holidays last week. The official notification states that the 28th and 29th of July (Friday and Saturday) will be declared public holidays in honour of the 9th and 10th of Muharram.

The 10th of Muharram, Youm-e-Ashur, will be observed on Saturday, July 29.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
