Federal Minister for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani visited petrol pumps in Jhelum on Wednesday. He reviewed the implementation of the Prime Minister’s fuel relief scheme.
During his visit, Kayani also personally helped citizens receive subsidized petrol. He visited petrol pumps in Jhelum, Sohawa, and Dina.
The Federal Minister inspected registration camps established at different petrol stations. He observed how citizens were registering for the scheme and receiving fuel tokens.
Kayani also assisted citizens with the registration process through the 9771 SMS service. He guided people on how to complete registration using their mobile phones.
After receiving fuel tokens, some citizens were able to purchase subsidized petrol. Kayani personally filled petrol into motorcycles during his visit.
The Federal Minister also explained the token system to citizens at the petrol pumps. He observed the process to understand how the relief scheme was being implemented.
Kayani directed the district administration to establish more registration camps. These camps will be set up outside the District Headquarters Hospital and government colleges.
The move aims to make registration easier for eligible citizens. It is also intended to provide assistance to people who need help with the digital process.
Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgun and other officials briefed Kayani about the scheme. They provided details about its implementation at 91 petrol pumps across Jhelum.
Kayani said he was visiting the petrol pumps on the Prime Minister’s instructions. He said the purpose was to ensure eligible citizens receive the announced relief.
He also highlighted the use of digital monitoring under the scheme. The system tracks fuel token issuance and subsidized fuel distribution.
The relief program covers motorcycles, Qingqi rickshaws, and cars with engines up to 800cc. Eligible users can receive subsidized petrol under the government’s scheme.
According to Kayani, motorcycle users receive a Rs. 500 fuel token. A person purchasing Rs. 600 worth of petrol would pay Rs. 100.
Owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc can receive a monthly subsidy. The subsidy for these vehicles is Rs. 3,000 per month.
The Federal Minister is scheduled to visit more petrol pumps on Thursday. He will also inspect additional registration camps during the next visit.
The government has been expanding assistance facilities for the fuel relief scheme. Help desks and registration facilities have also been introduced at petrol pumps.
The registration system allows eligible citizens to access the scheme through digital channels. The government has also made SMS registration free for applicants.
The latest visit focused on checking the process at the local level. It also allowed officials to identify areas where citizens require additional assistance.

The inspection comes as authorities continue implementing the nationwide fuel relief program. The scheme covers eligible motorcycles, three-wheelers, and small cars across Pakistan.
