The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has ordered the blocking of Aleema Khan’s CNIC and passport, along with the freezing of her bank accounts, marking a serious escalation in the ongoing legal proceedings against her. The decision comes after repeated non-compliance with court summons related to protest and incitement cases.
According to court sources, Aleema Khan failed to appear before the ATC despite multiple notices and earlier warrants. As a result, the court moved to restrict her financial transactions and international travel to ensure her cooperation in the investigation.
Earlier this month, the ATC issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan after she missed consecutive hearings in a case linked to the May 9 protests. When no progress was made in executing the warrant, the court reissued the order on October 22, signaling frustration over the lack of compliance.
Officials confirmed that NADRA and the State Bank of Pakistan have been directed to implement the latest orders immediately. Blocking Aleema Khan’s identification and freezing her financial assets are intended to pressure her into appearing before the court.
Legal analysts believe the ATC’s decision reflects a growing trend of stricter enforcement in politically charged cases. They noted that by targeting travel and financial access, the court aims to ensure that individuals cannot evade accountability.
The move has sparked debate within political and legal circles, with some calling it a necessary step to uphold the rule of law, while others view it as excessive. Still, the ATC maintains that the action was warranted after Aleema Khan repeatedly failed to cooperate.
The case continues to unfold as authorities await her next legal response. Whether Aleema Khan surrenders, challenges the orders, or faces further action, the coming days will determine how this high-profile episode progresses.
