It was supposed to be played every couple of years between ACC member countries. There have been 15 editions so far, with the first in 1984 and the last in 2022. Given the tense tensions between Pakistan and India, the 1993 session had to be cancelled. It was stated in 2008 that the championship would be held every two years.
Participation Of New Teams
Initially, the Asia Cup was a battleground primarily between India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. However, with the inclusion of Bangladesh in 1986 and later Afghanistan in 2014, the competition became even more intense, showcasing the rising cricketing talents from these nations.
