[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]A trial court recently granted post-arrest bail to journalist and YouTuber Asad Ali Toor in a case concerning a smear campaign against members of the judiciary. This decision follows a directive from the Islamabad High Court the previous day, instructing the trial court to consider Toor’s bail petition. Special Judge Humayon Dilawar approved the bail request, requiring Toor to provide surety bonds valued at Rs 5,000.
Interestingly, the FIA prosecutor raised no objections to Toor’s bail, despite his controversial vlogs naming individuals from the judiciary and influential circles. Just last week, a judicial magistrate had remanded Toor to jail in connection with allegations against institutions and civil servants.

Toor, known for his dissenting views, faced accusations of orchestrating a defamatory campaign against Supreme Court judges and government officials across social media platforms. His actions led to charges under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016.
It’s notable that the legal proceedings in this case have attracted significant attention, especially given Toor’s status as a prominent figure in the media landscape. The granting of bail signifies a legal development that may impact how such cases are handled in the future.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
