LAKKI MARWAT: On Saturday night, terrorists attacked a police station in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber-Pakhunkhwa (K-P), killing yet another police policeman.
After the assault, one of the attackers was taken into custody while still suffering from his injuries, and he eventually passed away.
Police told miscreants stormed Shehbaz Khel police post in Lakki Marwat in the darkness of night and used heavy and medium machine guns.
Police, however, fought back and repulsed the attack. One police constable was killed in the exchange of fire with the terrorists.
“Constable Tahseenullah of Rapid Response Force (RRF), belt number 3491, embraced martyrdom,” said a police official, adding that the attack was repulsed and the terrorists were forced to flee.
“A huge detachment of police was dispatched to the area as reinforcement; they performed a search and discovered one of the attackers who was injured. He had been left behind due to his injuries, the man claimed, adding that after being arrested and transferred to the hospital, the injured man passed away from his wounds.
Awais was the assailant, and both bodies were submitted for an autopsy.
It should be noted that on Saturday, a police officer was targeted in Charsadda’s Umarzai neighborhood. Five police officers were hurt when terrorists raided a police station in Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday night.
The worst year for law and order in K-P was 2022 because terrorists continued to target police as their major objective. In numerous areas of the province, deadly attacks were carried out on both civilians and peace committee members.
