Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s top javelin thrower, has a right knee injury that will keep him out of the National Championship next month.
Arshad is being groomed for the 2024 Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris, France, according to Nadeem’s coach Salman Butt. Arshad finished fifth in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, indicating that an improvement was on the way this time.
Arshad was unable to compete in the just finished Asian Games in Guangzhou, China due to a right knee injury.

Salman Butt, Nadeem’s coach, told a national daily, “He (Nadeem) is taking rest and it’s off-season so that he could refresh himself, which is very necessary.”
Arshad Nadeem is the first South Asian and the overall winner.
Arshad Nadeem is the first South Asian and the fourth overall javelin thrower to break the 90-meter milestone. He earned a gold medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, with a throw of 90.18m, and a silver medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championship (WAC) in Budapest, Hungary, with a throw of 87.82m.
With the silver medal described above, he became the first Pakistani to finish on the podium at any WAC event.
