Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has donated INR 2.5 million to well-known Punjabi singer Glory Bawa, daughter of the legendary folk singer Gurmeet Bawa, after she appealed for financial assistance on social media.
Glory Bawa had posted about her financial difficulties on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, requesting help from the Indian government. Upon learning of her plight, Akshay Kumar decided to offer his support immediately.

Kumar expressed his sentiments, stating that he considers Glory Bawa his sister and felt it was his duty to assist her. “I found out through social media that the family of Gurmeet Bawa, a stalwart of Punjabi music, was facing financial hardships. I regarded Glory Bawa as my sister and sent the money to fulfil my duty,” said Kumar in an interview with Indian media.
Glory Bawa expressed her deep gratitude, highlighting that Kumar’s generosity had significant meaning for her and her family. She also mentioned that following her appeal, she received more offers of assistance and hoped to soon find work in the music industry.
