Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir, a distinguished officer in the Police Service, will now assume the leadership of the FIA. His career has been marked by various key roles, including serving as Deputy Director of FIA’s cybercrime wing. The appointment comes at a crucial time as Jehangir is set to lead a recently formed Joint Investigation Team (JIT) tasked with investigating the alleged anti-judiciary campaign.
Jehangir’s background in the Police Service and his experience in key positions, such as Deputy Director of FIA’s cybercrime wing, make him well-suited for the responsibilities of the DG FIA role. Notably, this position had been vacant since the retirement of Mohsin Hassan Butt last month.
The interim government’s decision to appoint Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir to this significant position underscores the importance of his role in leading the FIA during a period marked by high-profile investigations. His appointment reflects the government’s confidence in his capabilities and expertise to navigate complex investigations, particularly those related to the alleged anti-judiciary campaign.
As Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir assumes the position of DG FIA, he is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the agency’s operations, furthering its mission in addressing various challenges and carrying out crucial investigations. His leadership will be closely watched as he guides the FIA through its responsibilities in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice in the face of evolving challenges in the investigative landscape.
