Afghan Deputy Governor’s Son Killed Alongside TTP Militants in Dera Ismail Khan

A counterterrorism operation in Kachachi, Dera Ismail Khan, on January 30, 2025, resulted in the elimination of three militants, including Badruddin, also known as Yusuf, the son of Mawlawi Ghulam Muhammad, the deputy governor of Afghanistan’s Badghis province.

Yusuf, reportedly affiliated with the extremist group Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK), was found among the ranks of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operatives during the operation. Security officials emphasized that the presence of the Afghan Taliban official’s son within TTP ranks was solid proof of Afghanistan’s involvement in terrorist activities targeting Pakistan.

A senior official remarked that Afghanistan’s open support for terrorism in Pakistan had been demonstrated by the killing of the Afghan deputy governor’s son alongside TTP militants. Authorities further alleged that terrorist groups, including the TTP, had been provided training, weapons, and safe havens in Afghanistan, labeling it as an act of “blatant aggression” that Pakistan could no longer tolerate.

“The Afghan Taliban’s involvement in protecting and arming militant groups is a direct threat to regional peace,” an official stated, noting that the situation had escalated beyond a security issue. Officials pointed out that Afghanistan had continuously harbored militants with the intent to destabilize Pakistan, and the links between the TTP and Afghan Taliban were now widely known.

A stern warning was issued that any use of Afghanistan-based militants against Pakistan would lead to a strong response. “Pakistan will not tolerate state-sponsored terrorism from Afghanistan any further,” a senior security official declared.

In conclusion, officials emphasized that Afghanistan’s use of terrorism as a strategic tool posed a significant threat to regional stability and reiterated Pakistan’s firm opposition to any terrorist activity on its soil.
