A University of Punjab MPhil student, Noman Zeb, has discovered significant oil reservoirs in the thousand-year-old limestone mountains of the Kohistan salt range. Under the supervision of Dr. Shahid Ghazi from the geology department, Zeb identified these reservoirs in the Khajar, Taral, Badshahpur, Kroli, and Sarhi areas. The findings were reported by Daily Naibaat.

Zeb’s study also suggests the presence of similar oil-rich mountain ranges in the Potohar region. He highlighted that a substantial amount of oil could be extracted from these reservoirs under government supervision, potentially aiding in alleviating the country’s power shortage issues.
