Cold, Cloudy Conditions to Continue in Islamabad as Rain, Fog Expected

Residents of Islamabad are bracing for continued cold and cloudy weather, with the meteorological department predicting intermittent rain and dense fog in the coming days. Authorities have advised motorists and commuters to exercise caution due to reduced visibility on major roads.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said temperatures are expected to remain low, with night and early morning conditions particularly chilly. Cloud cover is likely to persist, preventing significant warming during daytime hours. Rainfall is expected in light to moderate intensity, primarily in the city’s northern and central sectors.

Fog formation is anticipated during early mornings, particularly in low-lying areas and around the Margalla Hills. Traffic police have urged drivers to reduce speed and maintain safe distances to prevent accidents, especially on highways connecting Islamabad with Rawalpindi and surrounding regions.

Authorities have also warned that ongoing wet conditions could lead to slippery roads and localized waterlogging. Public transport operators have been asked to monitor routes and adjust schedules to ensure passenger safety. Schools and offices are expected to continue normal operations, but residents are advised to dress warmly and stay prepared for sudden weather changes.

The PMD has highlighted that such winter weather patterns are common for Islamabad in December and January, resulting from western disturbances that bring rain and cold winds from northern regions. Citizens are advised to stay updated with official forecasts and heed any advisories issued by local authorities.

Meteorologists expect that cold and cloudy conditions may persist for several more days before temperatures gradually rise toward the end of the week. They also indicated that residents should remain alert to possible light showers and fog-related disruptions in early mornings and evenings.

These weather conditions follow a recent spell of unseasonably low temperatures, prompting locals to prepare for winter-related challenges, including heating requirements and limited visibility on roads. Authorities continue to monitor developments to mitigate risks to public safety.
