Murree Issues Special Traffic Plan for New Year Night

Murree police have put in place a comprehensive traffic management plan for New Year’s night to ensure smooth movement and public safety, while also cancelling all leaves of traffic wardens and officers to strengthen enforcement.

According to a police spokesperson, all traffic personnel in Murree have been directed to remain on duty, and special squads of traffic wardens and officers have been formed. These teams will be deployed at key locations across the hill station to guide tourists, regulate traffic flow, and strictly enforce traffic laws during the celebrations.

As part of the plan, Mall Road will be completely closed to all types of vehicles to avoid congestion and ensure pedestrian safety. Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against underage drivers, motorcyclists not wearing helmets, and vehicles operating without number plates.

Murree Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Imran Razaq said a complete ban has been imposed on motorcycles on New Year’s night. He added that police will also crack down on dangerous practices such as one-wheeling and the use of motorcycles without proper silencers, which often create noise and safety hazards.

In addition, vehicles with black or tinted windows will not be allowed, as part of measures aimed at preventing any untoward incidents. The City Traffic Police Murree, the CTO said, are making every possible effort to facilitate tourists while maintaining law and order in the busy holiday period.
