The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that a westerly wave will approach the western parts of Pakistan starting on the night of 29th December. The system is expected to strengthen from 30th December, impacting most upper and central regions by 31st December, and persisting in northern areas until the morning of 2nd January 2026.
Due to this weather system, rain and thunderstorms with snowfall over hilly areas are expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noushki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Musakhel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Chagi, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk, and Kharan from the night of 29th December to 31st December, with occasional breaks.
In Sindh, isolated light rain or drizzle is expected in Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Thatta, Badin, and surrounding areas on 30th December.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will see rain and thunderstorms, with moderate to heavy snow in upper regions, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and Kohat from 30th December to 1st January, with occasional gaps.
In Punjab and Islamabad, rain and thunderstorms with snow are expected in Murree and Galliyat from the evening of 30th December to the morning of 2nd January, while Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar region, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Gujrat may experience isolated rain or thunderstorms from 31st December to 1st January. Southern Punjab districts, including Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, and Jhang, are also likely to witness isolated showers on 31st December.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Gujran, Shigar, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur, can expect rain and thunderstorms with moderate snowfall from the evening of 30th December to 2nd January, with occasional breaks.
