PSB Takes Action Over Missing Rs. 65 Million Netball Accounts

The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has barred six former officials of the Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) for failing to submit adjustment accounts for government grants.

According to the PSB, PNF received Rs. 32 million in the 2022–23 financial year and Rs. 33 million in 2023–24, totaling Rs. 65 million. However, the federation did not provide complete financial records, including receipts, vouchers, invoices, audited statements, and bank records. Repeated reminders from the PSB went unheeded.

The barred officials include former President Mudasar Razak Arain, former Secretary General Syed Gohar Raza, former Associate Secretaries Qurat-ul-Ain, Tanveer Ahmed, and Muhammad Riaz, as well as former Treasurer Sohail Ahmad. They are prohibited from participating in national and international sports activities.

The PSB’s Director General approved the decision, which has been communicated to all national and provincial sports bodies, government departments with sports directorates, and national sports federations. The board emphasized that accountability and transparency are essential for continued funding.

The PSB has given the Pakistan Netball Federation seven days to submit the complete adjustment accounts. Failure to comply may result in stricter action, including the closure or seizure of the federation’s and officials’ bank accounts.

Once the Pakistan Netball Federation provides the required financial records, the PSB will lift the ban on the former officials. The federation also has the right to appeal the decision through official channels.

PSB officials stressed that proper documentation of government grants is mandatory for all national sports federations. Transparent financial practices ensure continued support, accountability, and proper utilization of public funds.

The PSB’s actions highlight the importance of governance in sports federations and aim to reinforce financial responsibility among officials.
