Five Policemen Martyred in KP Patrol Vehicle Attack

Five policemen were martyred in a terrorist attack targeting a police patrol vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, authorities said on Tuesday, terming the incident a brutal assault on law enforcement personnel performing their duties.

According to police officials, the attack occurred when terrorists ambushed a routine patrol in a sensitive area of the province. The attackers used heavy weapons and explosives, causing severe damage to the police vehicle and leaving little chance for the officers to defend themselves.

All five policemen sustained critical injuries in the assault and were martyred on the spot. Their bodies were later shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities, where officials confirmed the cause of death as multiple injuries from gunfire and blast impact.

Senior police officers said the area was immediately cordoned off following the attack. Security forces launched a search operation in surrounding locations to track down the perpetrators and prevent their escape from the district.

The provincial government strongly condemned the attack, paying tribute to the fallen policemen for sacrificing their lives in the line of duty. Officials said the martyrs’ bravery would be remembered and that their families would receive full support from the state.

Security analysts said such attacks highlight the ongoing threat posed by militant groups in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They stressed the need for enhanced intelligence coordination and stronger security measures to protect frontline law enforcement personnel.

Authorities said investigations are under way, and evidence collected from the scene has been sent for forensic analysis. Officials vowed that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice through intensified counterterrorism operations.
