The Reko Diq copper-gold project in Pakistan has awarded major equipment contracts to Finland-based Metso. The contracts are valued at approximately €70 million.
Metso confirmed that €40 million of the contracts were recorded in its minerals segment order intake for the third quarter of 2025, while the remaining €30 million was booked in the fourth quarter.
Under the agreements, Metso will supply a complete beneficiation and dewatering package for the Reko Diq project. This includes a flotation circuit combining TankCell mechanical flotation technology for rougher and cleaner scavenger stages with Concorde Cell technology for ultrafine particle cleaning.
The configuration is designed to improve metallurgical performance while reducing capital and operating costs. Concorde Cell units will operate alongside HIGmill regrinding mills ordered for the project in 2024.
The supply scope also includes four Larox PF60 filters for concentrate filtration, slurry pumps for primary and secondary filtration stages, and five high-rate thickeners equipped with Reactorwell technology.
In addition, Metso will deliver a mill reline machine with automated safety features to service Premier ball mills previously ordered for the Reko Diq project.
The Reko Diq mine is jointly owned by Canada’s Barrick Gold, which holds a 50 percent stake. The remaining 50 percent is owned by the governments of Pakistan and Balochistan.
Officials said these contracts are a significant step forward for Reko Diq, enhancing efficiency and safety for large-scale copper-gold production. They also noted that the advanced equipment will help the project maintain high operational standards while minimizing costs.
