Punjab has also set fines for everyday littering. Throwing garbage outside homes, shops, or factories will result in a Rs25,000 fine. Dumping waste into street or neighborhood drains will carry a Rs10,000 fine.
Discarding animal waste or remains in public areas will attract a Rs50,000 fine. Officials said these rules aim to change public behavior.
To ensure enforcement, the Punjab Authority for Suthra Punjab has formed special teams. These teams will monitor residential areas, markets, and industrial zones. They will check compliance and take action on the spot.
Active operations will begin on January 1. Authorities described the campaign as a major cleanliness drive across Punjab. They said the goal is long-term environmental improvement.
