Four NCCIA Officers Arrested and Resign Over Bribe Case

Four NCCIA officers have resigned following allegations of bribery and misuse of authority. Their resignations were approved by the Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and are effective from November 20.

The officers who resigned include Deputy Director Sarfraz Chaudhry, Assistant Directors Muhammad Usman, Shoaib Riaz, and Asma Majeed. These resignations come amid an ongoing investigation into corruption within the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested four NCCIA officers, including former Additional Director Sarfraz Chaudhry, on charges of accepting bribes. The arrests were made following a complaint by Arob Jatoi, wife of YouTuber Saadur Rahman, also known as Ducky Bhai.

According to FIA sources, the accused officers are currently in custody and will be presented before the Lahore District Court. The First Information Report (FIR) states that the officers allegedly received Rs. 9 million from Ducky Bhai’s family in exchange for favorable treatment in a case.

Authorities emphasized that the investigation into the NCCIA officers is ongoing. Additional arrests or actions may follow as FIA reviews further evidence and conducts internal checks.

The scandal has raised public concerns about accountability and transparency within NCCIA. Officials stressed the importance of integrity in the agency, which handles sensitive cybercrime and digital investigations.

The resignations are seen as a step toward addressing corruption and restoring trust in NCCIA operations. Enforcement authorities are also reviewing internal procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The FIA has urged citizens to report any instances of corruption or misconduct within cybercrime agencies. Investigators aim to strengthen oversight and ensure that NCCIA officers act in accordance with the law.
