Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has officially announced winter vacations for schools and colleges across the province. The announcement was made on the minister’s official social media accounts, confirming the dates for the break.
The winter vacations in Punjab will be observed from December 22 to January 10. Authorities said the break aims to give students and teachers time to rest, spend time with family, and prepare for the upcoming academic term.
Earlier, the minister announced a major change in the examination schedule for matriculation and intermediate students. Both matric and intermediate exams will now take place after Ramadan and Eid. This change marks a significant adjustment from the previous timetable, providing students with a more comfortable preparation period.
Under the revised schedule, matriculation exams are expected to begin around March 24, followed by intermediate exams. The Education Minister said the new timetable will reduce academic pressure and allow students to focus on studies without stress during the holy month.
Officials emphasized that the changes reflect the government’s commitment to student welfare and improved academic planning. Schools and colleges in Punjab have been advised to adjust their academic calendars to align with the new winter vacations.
Parents and students welcomed the announcement, saying the break would give them a chance to relax and spend quality time with family. Teachers are expected to use the period to plan lessons and activities for the next term.
The Education Minister stressed that the revised exam schedule and winter vacations are part of broader efforts to enhance the education system in Punjab. Authorities hope these measures will balance academic learning with student well-being.
