Pakistan Railways has kicked off a major modernization campaign that includes upgrading passenger waiting areas, improving train coaches, and enhancing railway tracks with new greenbelts.
The department has officially launched an urban plantation program in partnership with the Punjab government, where trees and flowering plants are being grown along train routes.
The first phase has begun in Mandi Bahauddin, Malakwal, Sargodha, and Bhalwal, with plantation work already in progress. In Mandi Bahauddin, the initiative was inaugurated in the presence of the deputy commissioner.
Meanwhile, infrastructure upgrades are continuing at key stations such as Lahore, Karachi, and Faisalabad. Authorities say new facilities, improved waiting rooms, and modern technology are being added to provide a better travel experience. Several stations are also establishing new waiting lounges through public-private partnerships, offering travelers more comfort as they wait for their trains.
Pakistan Railways says that these combined projects will deliver a cleaner, greener, and more modern railway system for passengers nationwide.
