Rs66 Billion Raised For Road Construction Ali Pervaiz Malik

Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, announced on Thursday that about Rs66 billion has been collected through a levy on petroleum products for road construction in Balochistan.

Speaking in the Senate, Ali Pervaiz Malik explained that a charge of Rs7 to Rs8 per litre is applied to petroleum products specifically for funding road projects. The collected funds are transferred to the Planning Commission to ensure proper allocation and management.

The minister noted that the total cost of the Balochistan road construction initiative is estimated at Rs200 billion. He emphasized that the levy remains part of fuel pricing and that collections are ongoing to meet the financial requirements of the project.

Ali Pervaiz Malik also stated that the figures presented were accurate up to September 2025, and that updated data would be provided as the project progresses. The initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to infrastructure development in the province.

Officials said the petroleum levy provides a steady source of funding for road construction while reducing delays caused by budget constraints. The collected amount has already enabled the commencement of multiple road projects, enhancing connectivity and transportation in remote areas of Balochistan.

The minister highlighted that using a dedicated levy ensures transparency, as all funds collected for road development are specifically earmarked and monitored by the Planning Commission. This approach guarantees that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively for infrastructure improvements.

Ali Pervaiz Malik concluded by emphasizing the government’s long-term plan to continue using such levies to fund infrastructure projects, supporting regional development and economic growth across Pakistan.
