Perth Stadium made its largest-ever food donation after the recent two-day Ashes Test, handing over massive quantities of unused meals to local charities. Officials said the unexpectedly short match left huge amounts of prepared food untouched.
Stadium management immediately activated its surplus-distribution plan, ensuring the leftover items were safely packed and delivered to community organisations supporting vulnerable families. Volunteers reported receiving thousands of meals in a single coordinated effort.
The donation included fresh fruit, packaged meals, drinks, and other stadium-quality items that had been reserved for fans before the match ended early. Staff worked through the evening to prevent wastage and speed up distribution.
Local charities praised the move, saying the contribution arrives at a time when food demand is rising due to economic pressure on struggling households. They emphasised that large-scale donations like this help sustain relief programs.
Perth Stadium said sustainability and community support remain key goals, adding that it partners with food-rescue groups after every major event. The Ashes Test, however, produced the biggest single donation since the venue opened.
