Punjab Mandates Color-Coded Waste Bins in All Markets.

The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has directed that all schools, malls, plazas, and commercial facilities in the province must install waste bins in five different colors.

Under this new rule, separate containers for paper, glass, organic waste, metal, and plastic must be placed in visible areas. Authorities warn that strict action will be taken against those who ignore the instructions.

The EPA stated that mixing waste creates extra pressure on waste management operations, so proper segregation at the source is necessary to protect the environment and improve disposal efficiency.
