FIR Registered Against 14 Individuals In Billion-Rupee Stamp Scandal

Authorities in Islamabad have registered an FIR against 14 individuals over a massive stamp paper scam that allegedly defrauded billions of rupees from the national exchequer. The case involves officials from the Federal Treasury Office and stamp vendors accused of using fake documentation.

The police confirmed that the FIR has been filed under Sections 420, 468, and 471 of the Pakistan Penal Code. These sections cover cheating, forgery, and the use of forged documents. Six suspects have already been arrested, while authorities are still pursuing the remaining eight who remain at large.

Officials said the identities of the arrested individuals are being verified. Investigators are working to determine the full financial impact and identify any additional accomplices linked to the fraud.

According to the inquiry, the suspects used fake stamp papers worth tens of millions, potentially billions of rupees, for fraudulent receipts. Reports suggest that some Federal Treasury officials may have colluded with vendors to carry out the scam.

The fraud reportedly went unnoticed for years due to a lack of a verification mechanism between the State Bank of Pakistan and the Federal Treasury Office. Sources familiar with the investigation warn that the total losses could run into billions of rupees, marking it as one of the largest revenue frauds in recent history.

Authorities emphasized that the FIR is only the first step in a larger investigation. They have promised strict action against all involved and assured the public that further arrests will be made as the case unfolds.
