The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced a major immunization drive in the Gaza Strip, targeting 40,000 children with essential vaccines to prevent disease outbreaks.
Officials said the initiative will focus on vulnerable populations, especially those affected by ongoing conflict and limited access to healthcare services in the region.
Medical teams will deliver vaccines for diseases such as polio, measles, and other preventable illnesses, while also raising awareness among families about the importance of timely immunization.
WHO emphasized that the campaign is part of broader efforts to strengthen Gaza’s healthcare system, which has been under severe strain due to recent conflicts and infrastructure challenges.
The organization is coordinating with local health authorities and international partners to ensure vaccines reach even the most remote and high-risk communities.
Health experts warned that without urgent vaccination campaigns, children in Gaza remain at high risk for preventable disease outbreaks, making this initiative critical for public health.
