OGDCL Starts Work At New Pasakhi-14 Well In Hyderabad

OGDCL has started oil production from its new development well, Pasakhi-14, located in Hyderabad, Sindh. The company announced the update in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday.

According to the notice, the well has started producing 1,100 barrels of oil per day. OGDCL said the Pasakhi-14 well is part of the Pasakhi and Pasakhi North Development and Production Lease, where the company owns a 100 percent working interest. This means OGDCL is fully responsible for the drilling, development, and production activities in the area.

The company said its technical teams used advanced tools to study, drill, and test the well. Pasakhi-14 was drilled to a depth of 2,183 meters. It was designed to target the upper sands of the Lower Goru formation, which is known for its hydrocarbon potential.

To achieve better drilling accuracy, the company used modern technology. This included a Rotary Steerable System, an Electromagnetic Measurement While Drilling unit, and a nitrified mud system. OGDCL said this combination of tools helped protect the formation and ensured smooth drilling. It also shared that this was the first time the company used this full set of technologies in one well. The new well is also fitted with an Electric Submersible Pump to support steady production.

The company said the start of production from Pasakhi-14 reflects its focus on increasing exploration efforts and improving drilling performance. It added that stronger production supports its goal of helping the country meet its growing energy needs.

OGDCL also highlighted its commitment to long-term energy security. The company said it will continue to invest in new wells, modern drilling systems, and improved production methods.
