Meta Hit With $359M Lawsuit Over 2,000+ Adult Videos Downloaded Illegally

Meta is facing a $359 million lawsuit from adult entertainment companies Strike 3 Holdings and Counterlife Media. The companies claim that Meta illegally downloaded and shared nearly 2,400 adult films. They allege that the content was used to train the company’s artificial intelligence systems.

Meta has denied the allegations. The tech giant insists the downloads were for personal use only and not part of any AI project. The lawsuit, first filed in July 2025, accuses Meta of “willfully and intentionally” pirating copyrighted content.

Strike 3 Holdings has a long history of protecting its intellectual property. The company often sues individuals and platforms for copyright infringement. Its legal actions have become so common that searches for “Strike 3 copyright lawsuits” often return law firms offering services to those facing such cases.

According to the lawsuit, evidence includes 47 IP addresses linked to Meta that reportedly accessed the adult videos. One notable case involves the father of a Meta contractor, whose home IP address allegedly downloaded 97 videos. Strike 3 claims this shows Meta’s direct involvement, while Meta argues it reflects a single individual’s private activity.

Meta has filed a motion to dismiss the case. The company calls the evidence “guesswork and innuendo.” Meta also claims that the number of downloads—roughly 22 per year—is too small to be used for AI training. It maintains that the downloads match personal viewing habits rather than corporate activity.

Meta continues to stress that it does not train AI on pornography. The company bans sexually explicit content from its AI models and has no plans to use adult material in its systems.
